Designed in the style of “first responder” training, a Youth Mental Health First Aid program will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in Room 167 of the Health Sciences Building.

Sponsored by Missouri Southern’s Psychology Department, the training is designed specifically for people who want to know how to work with teens at risk for harmful behaviors, including suicide, said Dr. Loreen Huffman, professor of psychology. The session will be led by Aubrey Doss and Deena Murdock from Ozark Center.

Participants will receive certification, valid for three years, verifying successful completion of the course. The cost to attend is $30, which includes lunch.

The limit of participants is capped at 30. Feel free to encourage interested students to attend.
