Members of Staff Senate are trying to raise awareness of recycling opportunities available on campus.
“It was something our members were interested in as a way to help our campus community,” said Angela Bennett, president of Staff Senate.
The majority of buildings on campus have recycling locations, whether it’s a box to collect plastic bottles or paper products. Recycling locations are also available in the residence halls.
“One of the reasons we’re looking at it is not just for the environmental benefit, but also the cost savings,” said Bennett.
For example, she said that if recycling could cause the trash bin in the Criminal Justice building to be emptied one less time a week, it would mean a savings of $20 for the month.
“We’re just trying to get the word out,” she said.
The Staff Senate will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, in the Board of Governors Room in Billingsly Student Center.
