Three upcoming events planned by HR Training will offer important insurance information, discuss job interview techniques and provide an overview of the Beimdiek Recreation Center.

  • “Welcome to the New Year” will be Cigna’s first informative group session of 2020.

 

Sessions will be offered at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, in Room 343 of Billingsly Student Center. Cigna representative Alyssa Chafe will discuss how to access and manage insurance claims, use online resources to look up physicians and medical costs and offer trips to trim expenses. A Q&A will follow the presentation.

  • The job interview is perhaps the most important component of the employment process, yet way too often we underestimate the time required to prepare for this vital step or forget what resources we may have in our interview toolkit to ensure a positive experience.

 

“Conducting Job” interviews – set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in BSC’s Connor Ballroom – will focus on how to make the most of the interview, both before and after you meet the candidate. Learn how to prepare for a candidate interview, including techniques to ensure useful dialogue, while avoiding key discrimination pitfalls. Best practices, value-based interviewing and recruiter responsibilities will also be discussed.

  • If being more active in the new year is on your to-do list then you won’t want to miss this month’s brown bag training!

 

“Rec Center 101: Fitness Essentials” is planned for noon Friday, Jan. 31, in Room 341 of BSC. Beimdiek Recreaction Center staff will be on hand to provide an overview of available services including employee workout options, scheduled classes and intramural opportunities. Attendees will also hear from personal trainers who will explain what they do and how campus personnel can use trainers to help set goals and take action to improve their health.

A catered lunch consisting of salsa fresca chicken, grilled vegetables, tossed salad and dessert will be provided. This is a WIP qualified activity with all WIP attendees entered to win a Bluetooth body fat scale.
