More than 100 Missouri Southern students will get to see how polished their interviewing skills are during the second annual Mock Interview Day, set for Wednesday, Feb. 12, in Billingsly Student Center’s Connor Ballroom in Billingsly Student Center.
The event, hosted by Career Services, starts at 10 a.m. and will run until 1:30 p.m. During that time, students will meet face-to-face with area employers – approximately 30 will be in attendance – and discover some of the most common interview questions, while also having the chance to perfect things like answer techniques and eye contact.
“We are thrilled to be hosting this event,” said Alex Gandy, director of Career Services. “We have 118 students registered, and this year we’ve partnered with the Tri-State Human Resources Association for volunteer interviewers.”
Students will also learn how to use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method during their interviews.
“That will help them describe relevant experiences, identify appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills and techniques, and develop confidence in relationship to their interviewing skills,” said Gandy.
Following each interview, students will receive direct feedback from employers as well as human resource professionals.
