Two local heart disease survivors tell their stories and stress the importance of a healthy lifestyle on the next edition of “Newsmakers” on KGCS-TV.

Bobby Ballard and Jana Smith sit down with Judy Stiles, host and KGCS general manager, to share their experiences and discuss efforts by the American Heart Association to spread the news about exercise and proper heart-health. Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States, with cardiovascular disease affecting one in three people.

The show will begin airing nightly at 5:30 p.m. the week of March 1. It will also air on Saturday, March 7 at 5:30 a.m. on KOAM-TV – and is currently posted on the station’s YouTube channel, “KGCS Missouri Southern.”

KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21. It is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
