A campus task force has been created in response to the recent outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

“I have asked Dr. Paula Carson and Mr. Darren Fullerton to co-chair a small task force to prepare a list of recommended campus plans and actions to address the various challenges that COVID-19 may trigger,” Dr. Alan Marble, president of Missouri Southern, wrote in a message to campus. “The task force will make regular campus update reports and will be responsible for implementing any voluntary or regulatory actions or responses.”

The university has also created a COVID-19 update page on the MSSU website. It offers links to resources available from the state of Missouri, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization.

There are currently no confirmed cases in Jasper County, but members of the MSSU community are urged to take precautions against the virus, stay aware of the latest information regarding its spread, and follow recommendations regarding travel to infected areas.
