Members of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at Missouri Southern are reaching out to campus departments in an effort to “Think Pink” on Oct. 8.

The national organization’s national philanthropy project is breast cancer education and awareness.

“We want all faculty and staff members who want to participate to wear our ZTA pink ribbon that day,” says Ashlyn Pope, a junior early childhood education major. “We picked that date to represent the 1 in 8 chance that women have of developing breast cancer in their lifetime.

“If campus departments would like to participate, they can let us know and we’ll bring them a basket of ribbons.”

There is no charge to participate. To request a delivery of ribbons, send an email to popea002@mymail.mssu.edu.

Pope says the ZTA chapter is planning fundraisers for the American Cancer Society in the coming weeks.

“We’ll be selling masks and T-shirts later in October,” she says.
