A solo exhibition by photographer Gwen Walstrand is now on display in Missouri Southern’s Spiva Gallery.
“Near and There: Glimpses From a Fleeting World” features foreboding landscape images and very direct portraits of children – the climate crisis and the young activists bent on resolving it serving as the metaphorical subjects.
Walstrand is a professor of photography at Missouri State University in Springfield. She has shown her photographs in national and international exhibitions, including show in Spain, Italy, New York City and Philadelphia. Her work has been collected by the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, the Mulvane Art Museum in Topeka, the Daum Museum of Art in Sedalia, and in private collections in the U.S. and Italy.
The Spiva exhibit will run through Wednesday, Nov. 18. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Social distancing and face coverings are required.
