The Center for Entrepreneurship at Missouri Southern offered an Entrepreneurial Planning and Management Certificate entirely online for the Fall 2020 semester.

The certificate is designed to prepare individuals to create a business plan for the purpose of starting and managing a new business, said Ken Surbrugg, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. The online program has been made available through an a new initiative administered by the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development.

“The state of Missouri has a program called Return Strong,” he said. “It’s designed to help individuals who have been displaced or are unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This covers not just the legal components of establishing a business entity, but investigating the idea or opportunity.”

The 9 credit-hour program was designed to be completed in just one semester. Students meeting qualifications were able to receive a Return Strong training voucher that provided up to $4,000 toward the certificate.
