Missouri Southern thrower Rajindra Campbell has been named the MIAA Men’s Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Campbell, a native of Ocho Rios Bay, Saint Ann Jamaica, picked up two NCAA automatic qualifying (AQ) marks at Emporia State this past weekend. He nearly broke the MSSU school record in the discus as he hit an NCAA AQ of 58.11m (190-08) to win the event. The mark was just one inch off the school record and ranks second nationally this year in Division II. In day two, Campbell punched his ticket in the shot put finishing second, but as the top collegian, with an NCAA AQ mark of 19.09m (62-07.50), which set a new MSSU school record.
Campbell and the Lions will be back in action this weekend as Southern competes at Southwest Baptist.
