Southern’s Insurance Committee will host a town hall event from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, in BSC’s Connor Ballroom.

Representatives from Cigna, UNUM, Gallagher Benefit Services, and the university’s Wellness Committee will share news about the 2022 insurance offering including an update on plan details and rate changes as well as present 2022 open enrollment opportunities.

Immediately following the event, there will be a drawing for four prizes. To reserve a seat and enter the drawing, please complete the Insurance Townhall Reservation form.

Reservations will be accepted until noon on Thursday.

The university will host a Diversity Workshop from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 15, in the BSC ballroom.

Three sessions will be offered, each facilitated by MSSU alum Whitney Mestelle, co-founder of Inclusive Idaho.

8 a.m. – Session 1: What is an Inclusive Workplace?

During this session, attendees will explore what makes a workplace inclusive. Content will focus on connection, belonging, and accepting differences.

9:30 a.m. – Session 2: Common Challenges

Attendees will identify and learn strategies to overcome personal biases (blind spots) while exploring how biases play a role in microaggression, stereotyping, and cultural differences.

11 a.m. – Session 3: Racial Justice

The focus will be on racial identity and the different forms of racism before learning strategies to prevent injustice by building awareness through civility, cultural competency and sensitivity.
