The Missouri Southern softball program had eight student athletes named NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes from the 2020-21 season announced by the association earlier this week.
Individual student athletes need to have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher to be eligible for being a Scholar Athlete. In Division-II 1,727 student athletes were honored, for the Lions it was Kara Amos, Abby Atkin, Tori Frazier, Sidnie Hurst, Bailey Lacy, Makaila Leonhart, Lynnlee Parrott and Grace Parrott.
The individual honors are submitted by head coaches and recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association’s membership categories. As a team, the Lions had a combined grade point average of 3.49 this past season. Eight student athletes were named to the MIAA Honor Roll, with two being named Scholar-Athletes and picking up the Academic Excellence Award honors.
