Missouri Southern is taking the show on the road this fall with the Green & Gold Tour.

University officials, faculty, students and Roary the Lion have been spending the day in area towns in order to connect with communities and prospective students.

Morning coffee socials for Chamber and community members, alumni lunches, free shaved ice for students after school, and sponsorship of football games are a few of the events included on the Green & Gold Tour.

MSSU was in Monett for the inaugural event on Oct. 8, and spent the day in Nevada on Oct. 22. Seneca is next, with plans in the works to visit the community on Jan. 6 with sponsorship of the girls’ and boys’ basketball games against Miami, Okla.

“These communities have provided many students to Missouri Southern over the years, and this is a way for us to show our appreciation,” said Dr. Brad Hodson, executive vice president of Missouri Southern.

High-school students in each community can enter a drawing to win one of two $1,000 scholarships to be given away during halftime at the sponsored sporting events.

In Monett, a student from Monett and a student from the opposing team, Lamar, both won scholarships. In Nevada, students from Nevada and Aurora won the scholarships.
