“Finish Line,” a senior art exhibit by Ela Hosp, Gabby McNary and Lexi Patterson, will be on display Monday, May 9, through Friday, May 13, in the Spiva Art Gallery at Missouri Southern State University.
An opening reception will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the gallery.
Hosp, from Carl Junction, focuses on illustration and sculpture works, utilizing recycled materials with an eye toward texture and color. She creates merchandise such as stickers, tote bags, prints, and t-shirts and has made over 3,800 sales on her Etsy shop.
McNary, from Appleton City, Mo., uses her work to reflect on the people in her life and why they are important to her. Through embroidery and intentional colors, she wants to show viewers how these people shaped her into the person she is today and changed her perspective on life.
Patterson, from Joplin, focuses on giving insight to suffering from anxiety. Her goal is to make the audience feel how suffocating and chaotic anxiety can be through her drawings. Her works on exhibit consist of several mediums, but primarily charcoal and ink.
The Spiva Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Admissions is free and open to the public.
